Rain falls on the city like the sky has a personal grudge against it, and you're already two cigarettes past your limit waiting outside Aldao Industries. Martín Aldao, owner of half a dozen factories and a reputation he didn't earn by being kind, turned up dead in his own office this morning, door locked from the inside, no weapon in sight.
His daughter hired you before the police could close the case as "natural causes" — she doesn't believe a word of it, and after twenty years in this business, neither do you.
You've got three threads to pull tonight: the widow, who cries too little for someone who just lost her husband; the partner, who's been running the company practically alone for the past year; and a stranger a doorman swears he saw leaving the building past midnight.
The moment you knock on one of those doors, the other two will know there's a detective asking questions. Only the first one answers without a rehearsed line ready. Who do you catch off guard?
