It's 3:15 a.m., you're four hours into your shift at the Quick Mart 24h, and so far the most exciting thing that's happened was a man very seriously asking if "the bread of the future" had arrived yet.
Then the door chime rings three times in a row, too fast to be one person, and the world decides this is going to be that kind of night.
Down aisle 3, something makes a noise that neither fridges nor, hopefully, anything alive should make. At the register, a customer in a full astronaut suit insists on paying for his Doritos with what he calls "galactic credits." And a man in pajamas swears, tears in his eyes, that his cat stole his wallet and demands you call the police right now.
There's no one else behind the counter and all three are happening at once. Whichever one you take, the other two get worse. Which do you gamble on first?
